What Color is Water?

The sky is blue, the sun is shining and the color of the ocean is magnificent!! I would like to be able to describe it so another could truly see it in the minds eye! To say it is blue, a rich deep irridescent blue, navy blue almost cobalt, to a seabluegreen, green, aqua - is inadequate, as it draws me to want to be near it, to absorb it, to really feel that color. Its so calming~ even tho the sea is restless, the wind is fresh....and what is within that sea is another story. Today there are bluebottle stingers around and little bitey sea lice. The salt can be very healing to the skin, but too much is detrimental. There are little mackeral swimming around, and maybe lurking in the deep some big sharks!! But what color is the water? Take it out of context and put some in a glass bottle and it has no color!! So just let me sit and watch ~ feasting my eyes on that indescribable color of the sea!

Geoff is 40!

Geoff's birthday tonight was at a little cafe 'NEST' at Victoria rd Potts Point. Great food!! All the family there, as well as friends old and new. Nice to see Darren Evans,and Trish and Arch Gibbs from out of town. Quite a few babies there too.

The new deck is great, as is the new barby! Fresh cooked chicken and corn and salads~ great Australia Day foods....cooked American style!! ;) Comfort plus! New little wagon there. Didn't see much of Scout. She is always tucked away in her pouch! She is 4 months old now.

Happy Australia Day!

This is the best I can do for flag pictures. This is a time when we really miss our boat. Its so fun to be out on the harbour for the Australia Day celebrations. Instead we are going to C&B's for a bbq! Plan to also see B on his last day life guarding at the beach. He starts his new career teaching school on Monday!!
I love Australia! my adoptive country. I 'feel' more Aussie than Canadian now. I have lived here twice as long as I ever lived in Canada! and I have been an Aussie citizen for 2 1/2 years now! My how time flies when your having fun!!

Love is....



What could be more beautiful than a mother and child. A child cradled in the arms of the one who gave it life and nurishes it. Love!

A friend of mine has a collection of hundreds of mother and child images. I loved the concept and decided to collect pictures of mother and child - some from the museums in Paris, a park in Norway, a spa in Budapest, even down town Sydney!

When a small garden was made as a focal point outside my bedroom window a few years ago, Husband decided that I needed a mother and child statue in the middle. We were at the Eden garden centre the other day and he called me over all excited....he had found the mother and child statue!! so here it is! I love it.

Lemon Tree...very pretty....

yahoo! I finally have a rotating gallery for my quilts!! Its so fun to have my lemon topiary hanging up. I also have a cupboard to display my folded quilts. Makes the family room very cosy and homey. This is one of my favorite corners of my home.

Life Saver


mmmm...yum! a lifesaver with freckles....how fun. so is floating 'round the pool. I tried it out with flippers today. It gives more resistance to the muscles and tricks them into thinking they have done some work! so half an hour walking in water....fun! While I was trying not to watch the clock, a big white cockatoo flew over and a feather floated free from him. I thot he was leaving me a gift, but the breeze caught it and it floated upward and away. It looked so beautiful. It reminded me of the begining and ending of Forest Gump.

yanspiration

I visited Yan to day. She is improving in leaps and bounds ~ recovering from her rare pnemonia. She is still weak but her creative spirit flows and she is such an inspiration. I feel so uplifted after a visit with her. We both enjoy just 'being' together. In her recovery therapy she has been knitting with fun varied colored yarns, leaving long tails with each new addition. so there are dozens of 8x8 squares with long colorful tails. today some of them were hanging along the balcony blowing in the breeze like prayer flags. I can just see them becoming some very creative things with bead embellishments etc.
I can't wait to get started on some new creations too.

Keep your p out of our 'ool!


All my sewing buddies came for lunch today. Being school holidays, there were as may kids as adults. They all had a wonderful time in the swimming pool. Its SO warm ~ 31 'C . I got my swim after everyone had cleaned up and left, and Pete came home from a motor bike ride. 'Twas heavenly!
Everyone is keen to start sewing, so we should have something to show soon. as soon as I finish my holiday....we have 2 weeks at SWRocks coming right up!

Muses

Aren't these just the happiest little flowers? like a white star in the middle of a red petunia. They remind me of red and white striped sweeties. Im not sure theyre very good to eat tho! I plan to visit all the light houses down the south coast, so this one at Kiama is a good start!
I also plan to create them all in fabric and put them into a quilt ~ Sydney to Hobart.

This could almost pass for the Mediterranian!! but no, its our south coast. See the new 'S' bridge. Were walking on Bald Head.....no maybe it was Bald Hill!

Happy New Year ~007

"Its so hard to say good bye to yesterday" 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 kaboom!! last years gone and suddenly in one second, its 2007!! Pretty neat! We were on the foreshores of Sydney harbour- with a million other new year revelers. very exciting!!
New Years Day.....sleeping off last year? or just sleeping your life away....I learned that the koala has a piece of cartlage on their back end so they don't get a numb bum! so he's very comfy! Fun to have family come to visit. Gets us out doing touristy things in our own city. We always love the harbour.

Scout is 3 months old! that is 29th Sept to 29th Dec. =13 weeks
