The perfect postcard picture of the light house at South West Rocks...where we go for our holidays. I have been thinking for a while now about transcribing it into a fabric picture...so I finally just did it!! It was fun...a challenge...I'm quite pleased....and I might try it again sometime!

We couldn't get Scout out of it tonight! She just loves it!! I fully lined the suit so its comfy, and I got the mask and hat at Ikea.

Saggy Bag

I have been watching the Quilting Arts TV dvds - demonstrations on making fun things. The instructions to this fun bag is one. It starts as a square which creates fun pockets on the inside. The top has drawstrings for easy opening and carrying. I'm hoping it will help me to remember to take my own bag when I go shopping!

I'm Finished!!

Seventeen little quilts later....I am finished sewing Hug Rugs in memory of my mother. It has been a very theraputic exercise...there are still her white hairs on the fleece jackets that became little birds...watching the birds feasting in the birdfeeder at her window was such a joy to Mom. There are buttons and pockets ~ which could be complete with tissues and toothpicks! Every square holds a memory.
Its 6 months now since Mom died, and I have such peace, knowing she is at peace. So this is MY memory quilt. I backed it with the butterfly fleece that mom used, so I made it a little bigger with an extra boarder to fit. I use it on my bed.
Its been really good working with all Mom's clothes, but I am also really glad to be finished.

Hug Rugs

I am using my mothers clothes to make small memory quilts for some of my family members. This is the 1st one done!! Its for Pedar. Its quite theraputic - thinking of my mothers life while working with these fabrics - and fun to see it develop into la ittle Hug Rug.

QuilTed

Everyonce in a while I get this real urge to create!! Ive had these old clothes for 2 years waiting to be made into memory quilts. Suddenly I say to myself...I'm going to DO this! and its FUN! Its made from sweaters and dresses. It'll be for one of the family to remember their nanna by. This one is for a friends wedding in England this summer. She wanted an English country garden...fun to snuggle into when it cold wet and gray mid winter!

Lighthouse

I love fibre art.
This is the Santa Cruz lighthouse, being the place where Cherry and Brent met.
I make the pictures to fit recycled frames. Fun when they are 3d and I can add shells.

Picnic rug

Paul wanted a picnic rug big enough for 2 or 4! Lightbulb moment....perfect place to use the squares that he sewed together on my new over locker when he was about 12! He quite liked my new piece of machinery! so I cut him the squares and every day after school he would sew squares to make a strip or 2, and then sew the strips together.
Pauls room was decorated in flags at one point, so the flags come from his flag bed cover.
All perfect for his picnic rug~filled with childhood memories!!

Heart

This is Caroline's creation. She is taking it to her friend in Europe who is turning 60.
We had such fun together whipping up this quilt. We started off yesterday morning with coffee at the Bee Hive!! with Nicky. Then we went to the fabric shop for some bits, came home and cut and we had the top sewn up before dinner!! We were so lucky to have a little cookie in the house. Chantel loves to cook, so she made us dinner.
this morning we batted up the quilt as seen here, Caroline did straight line quilting, we bound it - and here we have a quilt ready to travel!
